ועדת המכרזים הבינמשרדית לפרויקטי BOT בתחום הטיפול בפסולת, המשותפת למשרד האוצר ולמשרד להגנת הסביבה, מקדמת בימים אלה מכרז מסוגBOT לתכנון, מימון, הקמה והפעלה של מתקן לטיפול בפסולת והפקת חשמל, באיזור השפדן אשר ממערב ראשון לציון. החשמל אשר ייוצר במתקן (על ידי איסוף גז המתאן הנפלט מהפסולת בתהליכי הטיפול) יועבר לרשת החשמל הארצית ויימכר לחברת החשמל, וזאת בהתאם לכללי הרשות לשירותים ציבוריים-חשמל. לצורך קיד
