אזרחי ישראל עתידים לעבור לשימוש בתעודות ביומטריות אשר יונפקו על ידי רשות האוכלוסין במשרד הפנים ולשם כך, לצורך הוצאת התעודות באופן וולונטרי רשות האוכלוסין יוצאת בקמפיין לציבור שיציג את יתרונות השימוש בתעודה. במחקר שנערך הובהר כי היתרון המשמעותי בשימוש בתעודה הינו העובדה כי לא ניתן לזייף אותה.
