במסגרת המחקר על השקעת קלציום קרבונט באגם הכנרת אנחנו מתכוונים לבצע מדידות גילים בשיטה של עופרת 210. שיטה זאת מאפשרת לקבוע גילים צעירים בטווח הזמן של עשרות השנים האחרונות. בעזרת גילים אלה נוכל לשחזר את היסטוריית ותנאי הסביבה בהשקעת הקלציום קרבונט באגם הכנרת בעשרות השנים האחרונות. מדידת עופרת 210 נעשית בעזרת מס ספקטרומטר שמודד חלקיקי אלפא. מעבדת מס ספקטרומטר למדידת עופרת 210 פועלת בבית הספר הימי באו
